Saving Money On Wedding Invitations
When it comes to weddings it is astounding how fast the bills pile up. As the original budget shrinks with every new purchase or choice it is time to look at ways of making your money stretch a little further.
Wedding invitations are important since they are proclaiming that your love is culminating in a union of two people. Here are seven ways to save money on what is essentially a throw away invitation card.
Depending on the size of your guest list, many printers will give discounts on cards and packages. For example, are you having menu cards, place names, order of service, scrolls, favor boxes etc? If yes, it is sometimes wise to get all from one source which gives you better bargaining power.
How about self printed cards? Is anyone in the family a calligrapher? Nothing looks better than a personal hand-written invitation on color coordinated card or paper.
Many websites now offer clipart style programs – often free for limited periods – so you can design and print your own cards on your home computer.
If you want to take this one step further, many stationers offer wedding packs (containing place cards etc.) with colored paper and ribbons. All you have to do is choose the wording and print them yourself!
Fancy invitations are expensive. Why not try a little bit of do-it-yourself and tie up the invitation – printed on your computer of course – with some pretty ribbon? Left over ribbon that is being used in the bouquet or on the dresses is the most obvious choice. Sometimes a black bow-tie style on more formal invites looks very effective.
Don’t forget the postage! If many of the guests are local save that little bit extra by dropping off the invites in person or at family gatherings prior to the event. Even pass out several to family members and get them to pass them on.
Finally, in this computer age it has been known for invitations to take the form of e-cards. Not exactly romantic or special but if money is an issue this is practically free!
